Shayne Kelly, a B.C resident has been drawing and painting as long as memory serves.
His appreciation of the masters is evident in his intense investigation of technique, colour and composition. Herein lies the concept, born of mundane objects, paying homage as it were to the banal through study.
Currently Shayne’s work has taken on a surreal quality, blending stark backgrounds with painterly and iconic-like compositions. The subject matter is playful and apocalyptic, balancing, to give a calming sense of well being.A graduate of Emily Carr, Shayne has always painted for himself and has only displayed work a handful of times in the past decade. There have been private commissions and community works.
